AWE ...
June 4th

The next AWE (Alternative Worship Experience) will be on 4th June, starting at 8.00pm at Broomhill Methodist Church. This will be a reflective time of worship on prayer to coordinate with the start of the 24 hours of prayer within the Sheffield West circuit (see Pray without ceasing below). A labyrinth will lead you on a journey of prayer, providing the opportunity for times of reflection and quiet space to be with God.

A MAJOR AUSTRALIAN ART COLLECTION:
'JESUS LAUGHING AND LOVING'

BROOMHILL METHODIST CHURCH,
Fulwood Road, Sheffield, S10 3BD.

These 35 paintings were shown at the Edinburgh Festival in 2004. The artists included are mainly from the South Pacific and have a refreshing approach to their subject. The Gospels tell of a Jesus who loved life, who enjoyed dinner parties and the company of a wide range of people, who was fully human. Whereas Western artists often portrayed Jesus as a white, tall, stern, blue-eyed blond, their Jesus is one of them, comfortable in their culture, a Jesus for all people.

The Rev. Richard Frazer, Minister of Greyfriars Kirk in Edinburgh, (where the exhibition is housed when not on tour) writes:-
"This exhibition is a step in the direction of liberating the person of Christ from the clutches of religion so that the scope of his relevance, power and humanity might be rediscovered."

The exhibition will be returning to Australia this autumn and therefore this will be one of the last opportunities to view it.

Open throughout the Festival. Mon to Sat 2.00 - 6.00pm
Sun 12.30 - 6.00pm
And during Festival events at the Church

Free Admission. Catalogues will be available at £5.00 each. There will be a collection towards expenses.
